Getting to Pennsylvania Station (34th Street and 8th Avenue) from the NYC area AirportsTo ride the bus, you will need a Metrocard or exact change (no pennies) for $2. At LaGuardia airport, you can purchase a Metrocard at a newsstand. At Kennedy, you can purchase a Metrocard before you get on the A train at the Subway station.

When you reach Manhattan, you will go along 125th Street (Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard). Ask the bus driver to let you know when you get to Lenox Ave (Malcolm X Boulevard). There you will get off and take the 2 or 3 train (they are red) DOWNTOWN to 34th Street.

Getting to Port Authority (42nd Street and 8th Avenue) from the NYC area Airports

LaGuardia: As you leave the airport, find the M60 Bus. You can transfer to three train lines that go to Times Square from the M60 bus. The Times Square is the closet train station to Port Authority, but because of its large size the A/C trains are closet to lines to Port Authority. However, of the first three trains lines you can transfer to from the M60 Bus, the A/C (blue line) is the last one you reach located at 125th (Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard) and Frederick Douglas Boulevard. If you have a great amount of luggage that you can’t carry well, take the A/C to Times Square-42nd Street. If you can carry your luggage with ease, ask the bus driver about transferring the NW (yellow line) in Queens or when you reach Lenox Ave and 125th in Manhattan to transfer to the 2/3 train (red line). Take either to Times Square. When you exit the train you can 1) follow the signs to A/C line and get out there; the A/C exits are right by Port Authority or 2) get out and walk towards 42nd Street and 8th Avenue.

Kennedy: When you leave the airport, take the AirTran ($5) to the A train. Take the Manhattan bound A train to 42nd Street-Times Square. This should take between 45 minutes to 1 hour.

You can take the AirTrain ($5.50 one way) to Newark Penn Station. From Newark Penn Station you can take a New Jersey Transit train to New York Penn Station. You can walk 8 blocks north to Port Authority or take a $2 A/C train one stop to Times Square.

When you get off the train, follow the signs to the Port Authority terminals. Take the escalator to the second floor and locate the Short Line ticket both.
